Faculty can import content from an existing Canvas course when wanting to use or repurpose previously created content including course settings, syllabus, assignments, modules, files, pages, and discussions. There are two options for importing content, both of which are covered below: Importing an entire course copy from a previous course and selecting importing specific content from a course.
Importing an entire course copy from a previous course:
Steps:
1. Open the course you'd like to import content into.
2. Go to the course Settings
3. Select "Import Content"
4. Select "Copy and Canvas Course" from the Content Type dropdown menu.
5. Type the course you'd like to pull content from into the field next to "Search for a course" and select "include completed courses"
6. Select "All content" and "Adjust events and dates" if you'd like to remove or adjust dates associated with the content
7. Click "Import." The course import will appear under "Current Jobs" and will display a "Completed" icon when the import is finished.
Selecting specific content to import from a previous course:
Steps:
1. Open the course you'd like to import content into.
2. Go to the course Settings
3. Select "Import Content"
4. Select "Copy and Canvas Course" from the Content Type drop down menu.
5. Type the course you'd like to pull content from into the field next to "Search for a course" and select "include completed courses"
6. Select "Select specific content" and "Adjust events and dates" if you'd like to remove or adjust dates associated with the content.
7. Click "Import." The course import will appear under "Current Jobs" and will display a "Completed" icon when the import is finished.
8. To select the content you'd like to import, click on "Select Content" next to the import name under "Current Jobs"
9. From the content selection menu, check the boxes next to the content you'd like to import
