This article provides information on Google's Takeout service, which allows a person to transfer, copy, or download their Google data from their @murraystate.edu Google account. This information is provided so Murray State employees and students can transfer their content before their @murraystate.edu Google accounts are deactivated. More information on account access is in our Account Durations for Employees and Students article.
Recommended Method: Google Takeout: Mail and/or Drive only

Google Takeout service for Mail/Drive: https://takeout.google.com/transfer
Things to note:
- You will need a personal @gmail.com account to transfer content to.
- Your personal @gmail.com account will need enough storage space for Takeout to transfer the content to.
- This is a very slow process (could take up to a week or longer to complete) so please start this process as soon as possible.
- You can check the progress of your transfer by going to https://takeout.google.com/transfer.
- Only one transfer can be initiated at a time. If you wish to do another transfer, you must wait until the current one completes.
- This process transfers a copy of your Drive/Mail contents. It does not delete the original content from your @murraystate.edu account.
Drive Copy/Transfer:
Once you have initiated the Drive transfer. you will begin seeing Drive files show up in your personal @gmail.com Drive account. All files will be stored in a folder labeled with your MSU email address, as well as the date/time that the transfer began.
Mail Copy/Transfer:
Once you have initiated the Mail transfer, you will begin seeing emails show up in your personal @gmail.com inbox. All existing labels will be retained, and you will see new labels which will mark which emails came from your @murraystate.edu account.

Things to note:
- You can only follow this process from a computer, not from the mobile app.
- You can only export events if you have the "Make changes and manage sharing" permission to that particular calendar.
- You will need a personal @gmail.com account to transfer content to.
- Depending on the number of events in your @murraystate.edu Google calendar, this process may take up to several hours for all events to export, import, and appear in your personal calendar.
- This process transfers a copy of each event from your MSU Google Calendar. It does not delete the original events from your @murraystate.edu account.

Things to note:
- On the Takeout page, you can select which services you will to have a copy of your content from. Please note that some of these services may not have been enabled for Murray State University. The primary services to focus on are Mail, Calendar, and Drive, depending on your usage.
- For some services, you can change the format of the data that will be downloaded.
- During step 2, you can choose where you want the archive saved to, such as a link you can download from later, or an archive saved to your Drive or Dropbox, etc. Please note that each option has different information associated to the content.
- The Takeout files are an export only.
